World Youth Sunday

Dear friends of YMT

We are all still living in a type of limbo and many are still finding it really difficult. We keep you all in prayer at this time.

If you are able to celebrate together on World Youth Sunday that’s fantastic, however, we do understand that a lot of people wont be able or are worried about gathering together.  We have put together some resources whether you are at home, school, parish or university.  They can be found here

https://worldyouthsunday.com/

some of the resources are still being added.

YMT, along with others, will be going live nationally on Youth Friday (19th November the Friday before Would Youth Sunday) and the link for that can be found here

The message below is from Fr Dermott Donnelly, which was sent out to members of the clergy this week.

In November 2020, Pope Francis called for a relaunch of World Youth Sunday and, moving forward, asks the global Catholic community to celebrate locally on the Solemnity of Christ the King, which this year will take place on Sunday, 21st November 2021.

The Catholic Church in England and Wales has a rich history of recognising this every year by celebrating National Youth Sunday. Now, however, what once was a national event held on a local level, will become a global day of celebration. World Youth Day was previously a separate day of celebration, set up by Pope Saint John Paul II, who said that “All young people must feel that they are cared for by the Church. Therefore, may the entire Church on a worldwide level be more and more committed to young people.”

Youth Sunday is a time when we can  share with the congregation something of the opportunities our young people are given to explore and live out their faith. It is also a time to invite the congregation to offer support through prayer and financial assistance and we would appreciate it if you would take the annual collection and send to the Emmaus Youth Village with cheques made out to the ‘Youth Ministry Trust’.

Please find attached a proposed script that can be read out on Word Youth Sunday and possible newsletter inserts for the weekends of 13th/14th  and 20th/21st November.

We thank you for your continued support and appreciate your generosity at this time.
